In Occitanie, according to data available as of May 5, 2022, for week 17 of 2022, the incidence and positivity rates were down compared to the previous week: a positivity rate of 23.5% (compared to 28.2% in week 16 of 2022, a decrease of 4.7 percentage points) and an incidence rate of 556 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 980 in week 16 of 2022, a decrease of 43%). The testing rate also continued to decline to 2,370 per 100,000 inhabitants versus 3,471 in week 16-2022, a decrease of 32%. At the regional level, incidence, positivity, and testing rates were decreasing across all age groups.
The R-value estimated from regional SI-DEP data through May 3, 2022, was 0.67 (0.66–0.67), down from previous weeks.
At the departmental level, an incidence rate exceeding 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants was estimated for week 17-2022 in all departments. In Occitanie, incidence rates by department are relatively consistent (ranging from 501.5 to 658.2 cases per 100,000). Incidence, positivity, and testing indicators were decreasing in all departments compared to the previous week.
Overall, in week 17 of 2022, a significant decrease in virological indicators was observed in all departments of Occitanie.
Acute gastroenteritis
Oscour®: Gastroenteritis activity was low in week 17 of 2022. Visits for gastroenteritis diagnoses across all age groups were down compared to previous weeks. In week 17-2022, 251 visits for gastroenteritis were recorded, representing 1.2% of all visits (423 visits in week 16-2022).
SOS Médecins: Gastroenteritis activity was low in week 17 of 2022. Procedures for all ages involving a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were down compared to the previous week. In week 17 of 2022, 101 procedures for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 5.2% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (160 procedures in week 16 of 2022).
Sentinelles Network: The incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was 50/100,000 [18; 82], stable compared to the previous week (59/100,000).
Influenza and influenza-like illness
The region has been in an epidemic phase for 20 weeks. Following an initial wave in late December followed by a high plateau, a second epidemic wave has been underway since mid-March, peaking in late March/early April.
