Key Points

COVID-19

  • In Occitanie, according to data available as of December 29, 2022, for week 51 of 2022, incidence and positivity rates were down compared to the previous week: a positivity rate of 24.6% (-5.2 percentage points compared to week 50 of 2022), incidence rate of 504 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (-34%), and testing rate of 2,046 per 100,000 inhabitants (-20%). At the regional level, incidence and positivity rates were decreasing across all age groups.

  • The R-value estimated from regional SI-DEP data through 12/27/2022 was 0.72 (0.72–0.73), statistically below 1 (indicating a slowdown in viral circulation) and lower than the previous week.

Bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age

  • Oscour® Network: Consultations for a diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were decreasing compared to previous weeks.

  • SOS Médecins Associations: the number of procedures for the diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age was also decreasing compared to previous weeks. In week 51-2022, 22 procedures for the diagnosis of bronchiolitis in children under 2 years of age were recorded, representing 7.7% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations in this age group (28 procedures in week 50-2022)

Flu

  • A very sharp increase in all indicators, which, for SOS Médecins and emergency room visits, reached levels higher than the epidemic peaks of the two previous seasons during the third epidemic week.

  • Oscour® Network: Consultations for all ages regarding a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were sharply up compared to the previous week. In week 51-2022, 778 visits for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 2.8% of all visits (549 visits in week 50-2022).

  • SOS Médecins Associations: Procedures for all ages for the diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness were sharply increasing compared to the previous week. In week 51-2022, 888 procedures for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 22.1% of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (692 procedures in week 50-2022).

  • Sentinelles Network: The incidence rate of influenza-like illness cases seen in general practice was 326/100,000 [230;422], an increase compared to the previous week (270/100,000).

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Oscour® Network: Gastroenteritis activity was low in week 51-2022. Visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were comparable to the previous week. In week 51-2022, 307 visits for gastroenteritis were recorded, representing 1.1% of all visits (335 visits in week 50-2022).

  • SOS Médecins Associations: Gastroenteritis activity was low in week 51 of 2022. Procedures for all ages due to a diagnosis of gastroenteritis had been stable for several weeks. In week 51 of 2022, 150 procedures for this diagnosis were recorded by the SOS Médecins associations (156 procedures in week 50 of 2022).

  • Sentinelles Network: The incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was 55/100,000 [23; 87], down from the previous week (77/100,000).
