Health Monitoring in the Occitanie Region. Update as of December 1, 2022.
Key Points
COVID-19
According to data available as of November 30, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., 1,334 COVID-19 patients were currently hospitalized in Occitanie, 5.6% (N=75) of whom were in critical care units (intensive care, critical care, and continuous monitoring). The number of new admissions to critical care units was also increasing compared to the previous week (53 versus 47, or +13%).
The R-Effectif estimated from regional SI-VIC data through November 27, 2022, was 1.30 (1.18–1.41), stable compared to the previous week (1.35 (1.22–1.49)).
The Omicron variant is circulating exclusively in Occitanie (100% of interpretable sequences out of 147 samples in the Flash S47 survey of 11/21/22), and its BA.5 sublineage remains predominant.
Bronchiolitis
Due to technical issues, the data could not be interpreted for week 47.
According to virological data from the university hospitals in Nîmes, Montpellier, and Toulouse, the circulation of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) was increasing compared to the previous week: 263 samples tested in the virology laboratories of the university hospitals in the Occitanie region were positive for RSV in week 47 of 2022, compared to 219 in week 46 of 2022 (the trend in the positivity rate cannot be interpreted due to a malfunction in the multiplex PCR machine at one of the university hospitals).
Acute gastroenteritis
Due to technical issues, the data could not be interpreted for week 47.
