Health Monitoring During the Heat Wave in Occitanie. Update as of July 26, 2022.
Key Points
Given the continuing heatwave around the Mediterranean, Météo-France maintained its classification for July 25, 2022, with two departments under an orange alert and one department under a yellow alert.
Total healthcare utilization: no increase between July 12, 2022, and July 25, 2022, in emergency care utilization among all age groups and those aged 75 and older.
Healthcare utilization for the iCanicule composite indicator: over the past week, and through July 25, 2022, the number of SOS Médecins calls, emergency room visits, and hospitalizations following emergency room visits for heat-related conditions (iCanicule composite indicator) decreased compared to the previous week (indicators had been at higher levels since July 12, 2022, the start of this heat wave). This trend was particularly noticeable over the last three days at the regional level, with indicators remaining generally stable in the departments of Aveyron, Gard, Haute-Garonne, Hérault, and Tarn-et-Garonne.
