Acute Respiratory Infections in Occitanie. Bulletin of October 9, 2025.

Key Points

Bronchiolitis, influenza, COVID-19

  • In week S40, the proportion of cases involving lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) remained stable in both community settings and hospitals compared to week S39. In emergency departments, this proportion of LRTI cases was at a baseline level across all age groups.

  • In hospitals, this activity was primarily related to pneumonia (56.2%), suspected COVID-19 cases (19.1%), and bronchitis (13.7%).

  • In community settings, this activity was primarily linked to bronchitis (39.3%), flu-like syndromes (34.9%), and suspected COVID-19 cases (18.3%).

  • In the absence of diagnostic testing, the trends observed through this syndromic surveillance may differ from those observed through virological surveillance, which highlights the predominant circulation of SARS-CoV-2 and rhinovirus, which may be the cause of these syndromes.
