Dengue

• Over the past two weeks, dengue activity in the territory has been low, with a total of 8 confirmed cases (2 in week 34 and 6 in week 33). One case was from the Western Coast, three from the Savanes sector, and the location was undetermined for the other four. The identified serotype was exclusively DENV-2.

• Since the beginning of the year, 256 cases of dengue have been confirmed in French Guiana, an average of 8 per week. Of these, 130 were from the Savanes sector, 52 from the Western Coast, 28 from Cayenne Island, 9 from Maroni, 1 from the Eastern Interior sector, the location was undetermined for 30 cases, and 6 were residents outside French Guiana. Of the 175 samples serotyped, 98% were DENV-2.

Malaria

• The number of malaria cases diagnosed in the healthcare system over the past two weeks remained low, with 6 cases (3 in S34 and 3 in S33, vs. 1 in S32 and 2 in S31). These cases were all uncomplicated P. vivax infections.

• In total, 112 malaria cases have been recorded since the beginning of the year. Malaria activity has stabilized since July. Furthermore, most infections occurred in gold-mining areas.

Acute respiratory infections

• Since the end of the flu epidemic, activity related to this disease has remained low and stable.

• The bronchiolitis outbreak continues in the region.

• Covid-19 activity has remained low in emergency rooms, community health centers (CDPS), and local hospitals in recent weeks.

Diarrhea

• Activity is stable and moderate in community health centers and local hospitals and is decreasing in the emergency departments of the three hospitals.
