Dengue
Over the past two weeks, dengue activity in the territory has been low, with a total of 8 confirmed cases (2 in week 34 and 6 in week 33). One case was from the Western Coast, three from the Savanes sector, and the location was undetermined for the other four. The identified serotype was exclusively DENV-2.
Since the beginning of the year, 256 cases of dengue have been confirmed in French Guiana, an average of 8 per week. Of these, 130 were from the Savanes sector, 52 from the Western Coast, 28 from Cayenne Island, 9 from Maroni, 1 from the Eastern Interior sector, the location was undetermined for 30 cases, and 6 were residents outside French Guiana. Of the 175 samples serotyped, 98% were DENV-2.
Malaria
The number of malaria cases diagnosed in the healthcare system over the past two weeks remained low, with 6 cases (3 in S34 and 3 in S33, vs. 1 in S32 and 2 in S31). These cases were all uncomplicated P. vivax infections.
In total, 112 malaria cases have been recorded since the beginning of the year. Malaria activity has stabilized since July. Furthermore, most infections occurred in gold-mining areas.
Acute respiratory infections
Since the end of the flu epidemic, activity related to this disease has remained low and stable.
The bronchiolitis outbreak continues in the region.
Covid-19 activity has remained low in emergency rooms, community health centers (CDPS), and local hospitals in recent weeks.
Diarrhea
Activity is stable and moderate in community health centers and local hospitals and is decreasing in the emergency departments of the three hospitals.
