Epidemiological Situation of Influenza in Martinique. Update as of May 15, 2012. 

Analysis of the epidemiological situation

In Martinique, the 2012 seasonal epidemic, which was milder than that of 2011, lasted a total of 12 weeks. The epidemic peak was reached during the first week of March. A majority of Influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 viruses were identified in all samples collected by sentinel physicians and at the Fort-de-France University Hospital.

In Martinique: an estimated 18,800 cases during the epidemic (S2012-02 to 13)

  • In Saint Martin: low influenza activity

  • In Saint Barthélemy: low influenza activity

  • In French Guiana: epidemic continues
