Epidemiological Situation of Dengue in French Guiana. Update as of April 27, 2023.

Key Points

Since early January, 15 confirmed cases of dengue—including 5 locally acquired cases—have been identified among residents of the municipalities of Saint-Laurent du Maroni, Kourou, Montsinéry-Tonnegrande, Rémire-Montjoly, and Grand-Santi. Of these 15 samples, 10 underwent serotype testing: 9 correspond to serotype DEN-3 and 1 to DEN-2 (imported case).
An outbreak was confirmed in the municipality of Kourou during week 15, confirming active circulation of the virus in the Savanes region. The situation is calm in the rest of the territory.

From January 1 to April 27, 2023:

  • An estimated 1 to 60 clinically suggestive cases each week.

  • 15 biologically confirmed cases, including:

    • 10 DENV-3 serotypes

    • 5 autochthonous cases

  • 1 hospitalized case, 0 deaths
