Key Points
In S28, virological indicators are declining, resulting in an adjusted incidence rate of 399 cases per 10,000 inhabitants (-7%). This decline is observed in the Cayenne Island and Savanes sectors, where the virus was circulating most extensively. In the West, the trend is stable. A slight increase is observed in the Oyapock sector, with a positivity rate of 18% in Week 28.
Monitoring of screening data in week 28 shows continued spread of variants carrying a mutation at position L452 (C1), which account for 91% of screened samples. Sequencing data indicate that the majority of these are BA.5 sublineages of Omicron.
Hospital indicators are also improving. New admissions across all departments are declining. Two ICU admissions were reported in week S28, and one in-hospital death was recorded.
