COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for French Guiana as of April 14, 2022

Key Points

In Week 14, trends in epidemiological indicators related to COVID-19 indicate an increase in viral circulation compared to Week 13: the incidence rate rose by 19%, reaching 166 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and the positivity rate increased by 0.9 percentage points. The testing rate increased slightly (+8%). The effective R is 1.11, which is significant. This figure is stable compared to Week 13 (1.14).

Regarding hospital activity, the number of new hospitalizations across all departments is slightly up, with 1 admission to the ICU in week 14. One death due to COVID-19 was reported at the CHC.

The number of emergency department visits is slightly up, but this indicator is not consolidated (data missing for the CHC).

Vaccination coverage has increased slightly compared to the previous week: among those aged 12 and older, it stands at 40.4% for a full course and 18.8% for a full course with a booster dose.
