Public Health Surveillance in the Île-de-France Region. Epidemiological Update as of February 16, 2012.
Week 06 was marked by:
An increase in emergency room visits for hypothermia, frostbite, and "other effects of a drop in temperature."
An increase, particularly noticeable at the end of the week, in emergency room visits (both hospital and private) for the flu, with no new severe cases reported.
At the end of Week 06 and the beginning of Week 07, there was an increase in visits to hospital emergency departments (ages 2–15) and calls to SOS Médecins (ages 2–15 and 15–75) compared to previous weeks. These indicators are higher than those observed during the same period in the two previous years. These differences could be explained by the escalation of the flu epidemic, whereas it was on the decline during the same period in the two previous years. Furthermore, the InVS has announced the start of the flu epidemic in mainland France.
