Key Events

  • On August 19 and 20 (weeks 33 and 34, respectively), the departments of Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle, and Vosges were placed on the "Warning and Action" level of the National Heat Wave Plan due to extreme heat.

  • An increase in the number of diagnoses of dehydration, hyponatremia, hyperthermia, and heatstroke in emergency departments was observed in weeks 33 and 34.

  • The number of allergy diagnoses recorded in Lorraine’s emergency departments rose sharply in week 34 compared to the previous two weeks.

  • According to data from the national aerobiological monitoring network, there is little risk of pollen allergies in the region. At this time of year, ragweed is primarily responsible for respiratory allergies, yet this plant is not very prevalent in the region.
