Health Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Epidemiological Update as of January 26, 2012.

Key Points

  • Flu activity is gradually increasing nationwide, though it remains below the levels observed during the same period in previous years. There is currently no flu outbreak in the Alsace region.

  • The number of bronchiolitis diagnoses has been declining since late December in Alsace as well as nationwide. The epidemic peak was reached in week 48 for the northern half of France and in week 52 for the southern half.

  • According to data from the Sentinelles France network, the epidemic threshold for gastroenteritis has now been exceeded for three weeks at the national level, with the outbreak beginning on January 2, 2012.
