Health Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Epidemiological Update as of April 19, 2012.

Key Points

  • End of flu activity in mainland France. According to data from the SOS Médecins associations in Alsace, flu activity has generally declined sharply in the region but appears to remain at low levels in the Bas-Rhin department. It is therefore important to remain vigilant, particularly in facilities housing the elderly.

  • Based on data from the SOS Médecins associations in Strasbourg and Mulhouse, the peak of flu activity appears to have been reached in week 8 for the region.

  • Bronchiolitis activity is returning to baseline levels for the SOS Médecins association in Strasbourg. However, this trend is less pronounced for the association in Mulhouse.

  • Gastroenteritis activity continues in the region but is trending downward in the Bas-Rhin department.
