Epidemiological surveillance in the Lorraine region. Update as of December 18, 2014.

Highlights

  • Emergency department activity in the region remains stable. However, an increase in certain metrics was recorded for emergency departments in Moselle during week 50 (total number of visits, number of visits by children under 1 year of age, and number of hospitalizations). This increase remains within the range typically observed.

  • At the regional level, influenza activity has been low and stable since week 40.

  • Bronchiolitis activity in emergency departments and at the SOS Médecins association in Meurthe-et-Moselle is on the rise. The increase in the number of positive respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) tests among respiratory samples received by the virology laboratory at Nancy University Hospital marks the start of this pathogen’s circulation.

  • Activity for acute gastroenteritis is relatively stable and comparable to what was observed in previous seasons at the same time of year.
