Health Monitoring in Brittany. Update as of April 5, 2022.

Key Points

COVID-19

Slight improvement in the regional COVID-19 epidemiological situation.

This positive trend is supported by observed declines in calls to SOS-Médecins and visits to hospital emergency rooms. However, this improvement is not yet visible at the hospital level, with continued increases in general care hospitalizations, critical care admissions, and hospital mortality. On the eve of the school holidays, Brittany is currently one of the few regions appearing to show a decline in these virological indicators or in emergency room visits, driven by Finistère and Côtes d’Armor, which were the two hardest-hit departments; the situation in Ille-et-Vilaine and Morbihan indicates more of a stabilization of the situation.

Bronchiolitis

  • Non-epidemic activity

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Moderate activity. Continued decline in the number of emergency room visits among children under 5.

Influenza and influenza-like illness

  • Epidemic activity; stable demand for SOS Médecins services and a decline in hospital emergency room visits
