Surveillance of tick-borne diseases. Franche-Comté Network 2010–2012. Newsletter No. 2. Surveillance period: April 1, 2010, to March 31, 2012

Data collection by the surveillance network for seven tick-borne diseases in Franche-Comté concluded on March 31, 2012. These two years of surveillance documented 386 confirmed cases of Lyme disease. This was made possible by the participation of 255 volunteer physicians, who remained involved throughout the entire period. Analysis of the questionnaires will provide a better clinical and therapeutic description of the disease in the region, as well as an estimate of its incidence. Furthermore, analysis of information regarding locations visited and activities undertaken at the time of suspected exposure will enhance our understanding of the risks. In this bulletin, you can read the analysis of the preliminary data collected over the past two years. (R.A.)
