Health Monitoring in the Bourgogne and Franche-Comté Regions. Update as of January 26, 2023.

Key Points

COVID-19

  • The epidemic continues to decline in the region, with falling incidence and positivity rates, as well as hospital indicators. This trend is consistent with the situation described at the national level.

  • The proportion of COVID-19 cases in the total caseload of SOS Médecins associations and emergency departments is low. The weekly number of new hospitalizations and new admissions to critical care units is decreasing.

  • The Omicron variant is circulating almost exclusively in the region, with the BA.5 sublineage predominating, accounting for 100% of interpretable sequences in the Flash S01 survey (based on 60 interpretable sequences as of January 2). Among its sublineages, the detection of BQ.1.1 (including its sublineages) appears to be stabilizing, as in the rest of metropolitan France.

Bronchiolitis

  • Epidemic phase.

  • The bronchiolitis epidemic continues to decline, with a gradual decrease in activity at SOS Médecins clinics and in emergency departments.

  • However, the region remains in the epidemic phase.

Influenza

  • Epidemic phase.

  • The flu epidemic is in a declining phase, with activity continuing to decrease for the fourth consecutive week at SOS Médecins clinics and in emergency departments.

  • 27 reports of clusters of acute respiratory infections in long-term care facilities since early October.

  • 26 severe cases of influenza admitted to intensive care units reported by the sentinel network of intensive care units.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Activity at SOS Médecins associations has been high for the past 3 weeks, approaching the levels observed last season.

  • Activity in emergency departments remains moderate and stable, and still below last season’s levels.
