Dengue Surveillance in Martinique. Update as of October 24, 2019.

Epidemiological Situation

The spread of the dengue virus is increasing, although it remains confined to a few municipalities.

This analysis is based on the following factors:

  • The outbreak of an active epidemic in the municipality of Sainte-Luce;

  • The increase in the number of laboratory-confirmed cases, half of which were reported in the last 4 weeks;

  • The increase in the number of clinically suspected dengue cases seen in private practice by the island’s general practitioners;

It is therefore important to remain vigilant regarding a potential geographic spread of this viral circulation, which is still relatively limited.
