How can you effectively combine health, sports, and physical activity?
For adolescents, engaging in recreational physical activity has three dimensions—emotional, cognitive, and social—that go far beyond mere motor skills. Any activity is a path to personal fulfillment for young people, provided it moves away from the elitist rules of sports—the cult of performance and being the best—and there is no obsessive pursuit of better health. The desire to communicate, the development of strategies, and the strengthening of self-esteem through the satisfaction of overcoming obstacles: the goal is indeed to foster the personal growth and fulfillment of each individual. At any age, in any setting, and with any group, educators must be trained to adapt activities to each specific context.
