Since February 2022, many Ukrainians have fled their country to seek refuge in European nations, particularly in France. To date, France has already welcomed more than 27,500 refugees from Ukraine. As the conflict continues, the flow of refugees into Europe and France could intensify in the coming weeks.
In its opinion dated March 23, 2022, the High Council for Public Health emphasizes the need for vigilance regarding the care and continuity of rights and medical services, as well as the organization of a “health appointment” within four months of entry into the country. The HCSP also recommends other measures, including catching up on vaccinations, such as for COVID-19. These measures are recommended with the aim of providing care for these individuals and communicating accessible and practical information to them, given their vulnerability.
To help inform migrants about health issues, Santé publique France provides documents in over 20 languages on its website. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first documents made available cover preventive measures, testing, and the vaccination program offered in France to adults and children.
