In response to evolving knowledge needs in the broad and diverse field of non-food-borne zoonoses, the French Institute for Public Health Surveillance (ISP) continued from 2005 to 2008 an initiative launched in 2000 aimed at identifying diseases requiring priority surveillance and actions to be implemented. This "prioritization" was carried out by a multidisciplinary group of experts. Following this prioritization, recommendations were issued, not only regarding training and information for professionals and the public, but also regarding surveillance—generally for the purpose of early warning—and specific studies, organized by identified disease. This report presents a summary of the group’s work. (R.A.)
