User/Caregiver Support Groups in Marseille: A Form of Therapy to Combat Violence.

In Marseille, support groups bring together patients and caregivers to resolve conflicts and give patients a voice. Psychiatric patients express the suffering—and thus the violence—they feel when confronted with certain attitudes of caregivers in their daily lives. By opening themselves up to dialogue, caregivers agree to reevaluate their approach, which patients perceive as violent. These support groups have helped to ease tensions between patients and caregivers.
