Take socioeconomic factors into account to reduce inequality.
Social inequalities in health are not inevitable; to reduce them, we must address the major socioeconomic "determinants" such as education, housing, employment and working conditions, transportation, and taxation. This is one of the key recommendations of the expert group led by Professor Thierry Lang,2 which drafted the report of the High Council for Public Health (HCSP), published in November 2009.
