Uprooting and exile have significant physical and psychological consequences for many migrants. This makes it absolutely essential for health and social service professionals to take these disruptions and losses of identity into account. They must support and care for individuals both medically and psychologically, prioritizing active listening, acknowledgment, and consideration of the broader context.
