Young People and Alcohol.

Alcohol use among young people may reflect a need for reassurance regarding their identity and a desire to fit in by belonging to a peer group. It depends on individual vulnerabilities, but also on the social image of alcoholic beverages and the uncertainties adolescents face regarding their future. Early onset of drinking and the pursuit of intoxication among a minority of adolescents are potentially dangerous phenomena that should be a cause for concern in our society.
