Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of November 22, 2012

Key points:

  • Bronchiolitis: activity slightly on the rise; the epidemic has not yet begun in Languedoc-Roussillon (observed values below the regional statistical threshold); high activity nationwide;

  • Pneumonia / Bronchitis: activity lower than during the same period last year;

  • Flu: low activity, both in the region and across France;

  • Gastroenteritis: low activity according to data from the Sentinelles network and emergency departments, but the number of diagnoses made by doctors from SOS associations is trending upward.

  • Surveillance of vector-borne diseases: Since May 1, 115 reports of suspected cases have been received in Gard and Hérault. To date, 2 cases of chikungunya and 10 of dengue have been confirmed (4 results pending); all were imported during travel to endemic areas. No locally acquired cases have been detected.
