COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of June 16, 2022

Key Points

In Week 23 in Île-de-France, the rise in virological and hospital indicators continued at a more pronounced rate, prompting continued vigilance in the coming weeks.

  • The adjusted regional crude incidence rate rose to 472 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

  • The same upward trend was observed overall for the testing rate.

  • The positivity rate (19.5%) increased at the regional level and across all Île-de-France departments for the third consecutive week.

  • The BA.2 sublineage of the Omicron variant remains predominant in Île-de-France, but there are steady increases in the share of the BA.4 and BA.5 sublineages.

  • Use of primary care services (SOS Médecins & Oscour) for “suspected COVID-19” increased slightly.

  • The number of new hospitalizations and the number of new admissions to intensive care units increased. The number of COVID-19-related deaths in hospitals decreased. (SI-VIC data).

  • New reports of COVID-19 cases by long-term care facilities remained stable, but the number of cases among residents was increasing.

  • Vaccination coverage is progressing slowly in the region.

Given the continued circulation of SARS-CoV-2, vaccination (and booster shots) for all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
