COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of April 7, 2022

Key Points

In week 13 in Île-de-France, virological and hospital indicators continued to rise. The intense circulation of SARS-CoV-2 calls for continued vigilance.

  • The crude incidence rate stood at 1,361 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and rose for the fourth consecutive week.

  • The same upward trend was observed for testing rates (5,415 tests per 100,000 inhabitants) and positivity rates (25.2%).

  • The BA.2 sublineage of the Omicron variant has been predominant in Île-de-France since late February 2022.

  • SI-VIC data showed an increase in new hospitalizations, new admissions to intensive care, and COVID-19-related deaths in hospitals.

  • Vaccination coverage is increasing slowly in the region.

Given the high and rising viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
