COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of April 14, 2022

Key Points

In Week 14 in Île-de-France, epidemiological indicators showed a slowdown in the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in the region; however, transmission remains high, and continued vigilance is advised.

  • The crude incidence rate stood at 1,276 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and was decreasing after four consecutive weeks of increases.

  • The same downward trend was observed for the testing rate (4,929 tests per 100,000 inhabitants).

  • The positivity rate continued to rise (25.9%).

  • The BA.2 sublineage of the Omicron variant has been predominant in Île-de-France since late February 2022.

  • SI-VIC data showed a decrease in new hospitalizations and a stabilization in new critical care admissions and COVID-19-related hospital deaths.

  • Vaccination coverage is increasing slowly in the region.

Given the high level of viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
