COVID-19 and Monkeypox: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of December 9, 2022

In Week 48 in Île-de-France, virological and hospital indicators showed an increase.
The regional incidence rate was 288 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, an increase compared to Week 47 of 2022. The positivity rate (17.8%) and the testing rate followed the same trend.
The BA.5 sublineage of the Omicron variant accounted for nearly all sequencing results.
Visits to primary care for “suspected COVID-19” were rising sharply, as were visits to emergency departments.
The number of new hospitalizations and the number of in-hospital deaths were increasing. The number of new COVID-19-related critical care admissions was stabilizing compared to S47.
The total number of new COVID-19 cases reported by ESMS was declining.
Monkeypox
From mid-May through December 6, 2022, 2,503 confirmed cases of monkeypox were recorded in Île-de-France (region of residence).
