Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • Epidemic phase, on the decline.

  • Bronchiolitis-related activity among children under 2 years of age peaked during the week of December 11. In week 51, it remained at 20% in emergency departments (vs. 20% in week 51), but the number of bronchiolitis cases (305) and the number of visits (1,511) increased during this holiday period.

  • SOS Médecins activity has decreased to 9% in SOS Médecins associations (vs. 13% in Week 51) with fewer than 30 cases.

Flu

  • Epidemic phase, on the rise.

  • Flu-related activity increased in emergency departments with 258 flu cases (1.5% of visits in Week 52 vs. 0.9% in Week 51), but decreased slightly for SOS Médecins with 256 flu cases and activity remaining around 3,700 procedures (7% in Week 52 vs. 8% in Week 51).

  • In the region’s medical-social facilities, two clusters of influenza cases were reported (onset date in Week 51).

  • Since November 2023, 7 severe cases of influenza admitted to intensive care (4 influenza A, 1 influenza B, and 2 not specified) have been reported.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Diagnoses of acute gastroenteritis by SOS Médecins associations are on the rise, accounting for 8% of procedures (vs. 5% in Week 51).

  • Emergency department diagnoses for acute gastroenteritis are on the rise, with a high consultation rate, accounting for 1.9% of visits in Week 52 (vs. 1.2% in Week 51).

COVID-19

  • The spread of SARS-CoV-2 is slowing in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The rate of confirmed cases continues to decline, falling from 49.5 per 100,000 inhabitants in S51 to 28.7 in S52 during the school vacation period.

  • The percentage of cases involving suspected COVID-19 among SOS Médecins associations is decreasing (2.7% vs. 4.1% in Week 1), and the rate of emergency department visits remains stable (1.4% vs. 1.6% in Week 1).

  • The proportion of hospitalizations following an emergency department visit decreased (45.4% vs. 49.3% in Week 1) and primarily involved those aged 65 and older (85.2%).
