Key Points

  • In Week 31 (July 29–August 4, 2024), emergency department visits and subsequent hospitalizations remained stable for both children and adults compared to the previous week.

  • Among seasonal indicators, the following are noted:

    • a further increase in visits for hyperthermia/heatstroke across all age groups (+111.2%, or +209 visits) and visits for allergies across all age groups (+7.8%, or +220 visits), with figures comparable to those of the previous three years.

    • an increase in visits for insect bites among adults (+15.1%, or +157 visits).

    • a decrease in visits for chickenpox among children under 15 years of age (-12.1%, or -49 visits).

  • Visits for whooping cough continued to rise in week 31 among children under 15 (+12.0%, or +26 visits). In contrast, they decreased among adults (-19.1%, or -18 visits). These figures remain at levels significantly higher than in previous years.

  • Other respiratory indicators are down, notably visits for suspected COVID-19 (-6.5%, or -115 visits across all age groups).

  • Among other indicators, there was an increase in visits for general malaise (+5.9%, or +692 visits across all age groups), visits for dehydration among adults (+48.3%, or +161 visits), for asthma attacks among adults (+13.9%, or +146 visits), and for vomiting among children under 15 (+13.3%, or +143 visits).
