Key Points

Oscour® network emergency department visit indicators:

  • The monthly number of emergency room visits for mental health issues among children in September 2023 is comparable to that of 2022 but significantly higher than the average for the same period from 2019 to 2021.

  • The monthly number of emergency room visits for mental health issues among adults in September 2023 was higher than in 2022 and higher than the average for the same period in 2019–2021.

  • The number of emergency department visits for suicidal ideation among children in September 2023 is comparable to previous years. The volume of activity is comparable to 2022 but higher than the average for the years 2019–2021 during the same period.

  • The number of emergency room visits for suicidal ideation among adults in September 2023 was higher than in 2022 and significantly higher than the average for the years 2019 to 2021. However, the activity shares were similar.

  • Other mental health monitoring indicators from the Oscour® network showed no significant changes.
