COVID-19

In S11, SARS-CoV-2 viral circulation is intensifying. The incidence rate is rising sharply (+51%) and has reached 669 per 100,000 inhabitants. It is increasing across all age groups and in all departments. Testing and positivity rates are also on the rise. In Week 11, the highest incidence rates were observed in Cantal, Allier, Puy-de-Dôme, and Ardèche.

After several weeks of decline, the number of new hospitalizations for COVID-19 has stabilized, and the number of admissions to intensive care units has increased slightly in Week 11 (+7%). The total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 remained stable between March 15 and March 22, while the number of patients in intensive care units decreased by 8%.

Influenza

During Week 11 (March 14–20, 2022), in inpatient care, according to data from the Oscour® network, hospital visits across all age groups for a diagnosis of influenza/influenza-like illness continued to rise. In Week 11, 1,286 emergency department visits for influenza/influenza-like illness were recorded (+31% compared to Week 10), representing 2.7% of all emergency department visits across all age groups (2.1% in Week 10). The percentage of those under 15 years of age remains stable at around 65%, and the proportion of those 65 years and older increased to 8.4% (7.8% in Week 10).

Of these 1,286 visits, 138 were followed by hospitalization, representing a hospitalization rate of 10.7% for this diagnosis, up from Week 10 (9.3%). Hospitalizations for influenza/influenza-like illness accounted for 1.7% of all hospitalizations in Week 11, a slight increase compared to the previous week (1.1% in Week 10).

Within the region, hospital pressure is higher in the Central and Eastern sectors (2% and 1.9% of all hospitalizations, respectively).
