Human health suffers from a simplistic view of biodiversity
In contemporary societies, the natural world is sometimes viewed as a source of direct harm: certain animals are venomous or toxic, and certain plants are allergenic. It is essential to challenge stereotypes about biodiversity and to understand how it functions and interacts in order to address the harmful human impacts on ecosystems, which are sources of numerous health issues. However, there is no simple solution for managing this everyday coexistence with plant and animal species, other than through the optimization of co-benefits.
