An evaluation of tobacco control policies implemented in 2007 and 2008.

A survey conducted by INPES and INCa, and published in October 2011, shows that the ban on smoking in public places, implemented in 2007 and 2008, has significantly reduced smoking in these public spaces. Furthermore, smokers are increasingly in favor of this ban, and a small proportion of them report having reduced or stopped their smoking. Furthermore, it must be noted that France remains one of the countries where doctors are the least proactive in advising patients to quit smoking. Hence one of the recommendations of this survey: to strengthen their role in supporting patients, as scientific literature demonstrates that their recommendations prove to be decisive.
