Establish a health education program for students in grades 6 through 9.

Interview with Pascal Touzanne, principal of middle schools in Saint-Laurent-de-Neste and Loures-Barousse (Hautes-Pyrénées). How can we foster a better atmosphere in a middle school and better help students take charge of their health? As principal of two schools in the Hautes-Pyrénées, Pascal Touzanne has revived a health and citizenship education committee and introduced a “health passport” for students in grades 6 through 9, making health promotion a regular part of the curriculum. These middle schools have established a monitoring unit and a support group for students facing difficulties. Administration, teachers, school health professionals, and support staff are all involved and work together.
