Changing perceptions of mental health.
How can we combat stigma? Scientists have thoroughly evaluated the various intervention tools (communication, community outreach, etc.) that are most commonly used. In particular, they found that the most favorable results come from initiatives targeting small groups and specific audiences (schools, workplaces, city halls). For example, the “Tree of Misconceptions” is a tool designed by Psycom to encourage reflection and discussion; it helps small groups deconstruct common preconceptions about mental health.
