6-month effectiveness of the French smoking cessation quitline

Smoking cessation quitlines are considered as effective interventions for motivated smokers . In France in 2014, 59.5% of daily smokers aged 15 to 75 years wanted to stop smoking. Santé publique France, the French national public health agency, has been running the French quitline (Tabac info service, TIS) since 1998. An evaluation was launched in 2012 following the introduction of structured counselling sessions by trained professionals. Its main objective is to document the effectiveness of the service by estimating the smoking abstinence rate at 6 months. [introduction poster]
